It’s been said patience is a virtue, when it comes to strength training this definitely rings true. It seems everyone is in a hurry to pile on more weight before their bodies are ready and then they end up plateauing quickly or with an injury. For long term gains it is important to make consistent and gradual increases. Now of course many people will see rapid gains in the beginning of their training but that can soon give way to lack of gains. The frustration that can come with missed lifts can be reduced or avoided by slowly increasing the loads on your lifts. Although there are those times when you will go outside of these parameters, on those days when you just feel strong then go for it and make that new PR and then get back on the program of steady and consistent increases in weight..
