I really like the elbow as a weapon, it’s just such a practical close range strike. Maybe it’s from my many years in the Indonesian martial arts where the elbow is used extensively. When used properly it’s very difficult to defend against or even see it coming for that matter. Most fighters these days want to grab and roll on the ground when you get in close. I would MUCH rather knock someone out with a well placed elbow than roll around with some sweaty guy. I recently received an e-mail from a former student (Paul) who got into a little altercation in Sturgis at the bike rally. I didn’t get the details as to what led up to the fight what I was told was this:
“I also wanted to let you know that at Stugis I had my Krav tested and it worked perfectly. I did get a black eye as my left hand redirect was late but still reduced the blow, I didn’t even think as I landed a right elbow to the guys head right across his ear.Direct connect and he was knocked completely out cold, All the drills payed off.”
Simple but effective, that’s what Krav Maga is all about.
