Tough Mudders, Half-Marathon Runners, and Olympic Weightlifters

Just wanted to take tonight’s post to congratulate a few members of the CrossFit Modesto Krav Maga & Fitness community on jobs well done this weekend.

On the Tough Mudder:
Sonja Martinez and army sergeants Stephen Martinez and Jesus Maldonado, who incidentally make up the (mainly) 6 AM workout crew, Trevor Pratt, and Travis Pond all took on the Tough Mudder at Diablo Grande this past Sunday. Quinn Lanigan and Jerad Cardoza took on the Tough Mudder at Squaw Valley two Saturdays ago when a lot of us were at Dell’Osso Family Farms for Mud on the Farm.

Tough Mudder is part extreme obstacle course and part half marathon trail run. The most important part of the Tough Mudder, like so many other events, is finishing. All of the aforementioned people finished their muddy, icy, scary obstacles and hopefully rewarded themselves with a free beer or some other celebratory post-workout treat after!

On the Peace Officer Memorial Run:
Claire Menard and Kristi Hartfield took on a half-marathon, a whopping 13.1 miles, today (Sunday) and finished with times of 2:06:34 (Claire) and 2:04:19 (Kristi). Both Kristi and Claire were present for Friday’s 30 minute long hero WOD McGhee. Congratulations ladies, the hard work you put in at the gym and outside of it shows!

On the Snatch Workshop:
Three women were present for the Olympic Weightlifting Snatch workshop on Saturday. Michelle Arellanez, Amy Berryman, and Danielle Brandt all spent 90 minutes with me as we drilled different positions and movements to perfect lifting technique. The before and after videotapes don’t lie and all three ladies made exponential progress. There’s time to sign up for the Clean and Jerk Workshop happening on Saturday, October 6th.

We’ve got some events in store for October and November. Be on the lookout for announcements in the coming weeks.
