CrossFit is for everyday people

I was at the grocery store today buying lunch and the cashier noticed my Athlete shirt and asked me about CrossFit. She said, “Oh yeah, that stuff is crazy. I’ve wanted to try it, but I don’t think I could even do it.” On nearly every single one of the phone calls I’ve made this week I’ve been told, “I’m really intimidated, are you sure this is for someone like me?”

There’s a perception to people who don’t do CrossFit, that anyone who does it is
a) a phenomenal athlete
b) someone who’s always been “fit”
c) super hardcore
d) all of the above.

What’s disappointing about this all-too-common misconception is that it stops many people from making the call or even trying CrossFit out ONCE.

It’s true that CrossFit workouts are tough. But it’s not true that only the gifted athletes can do it. Sure, the gifted athletes are the ones who make it to things like The CrossFit Games or the Olympics–getting to that high of a level requires not only hard work and a lot of dedication, but let’s be honest folks, genetics plays a HUGE role.

But we’re talking everyday exercise, getting a good sweat and seeing your body change. You don’t have to be a “somebody” to do CrossFit or Krav Maga here. You just have to want to work for what you want.
